Lightning McQueen & Little Einstein

It’s been a challenging couple of weeks! Within days of getting back from the UK, we left for a family reunion in an island off Mersing. Back on Monday evening with several cake to be delivered from Thursday to Sunday. Two sculpted cakes – Lightning McQueen and Little Einstein Rocket – and a set of 25 cupcakes to be delivered today. To add on to the drama, my helper has gone back to the Philippines  on emergency leave to attend to family matters AND my husband is away in Singapore for a tv shoot. I’m alone with kids (which we know is a full time job) and have to get cake orders out. Started decorating this set of cupcakes first

Next was Little Einstein Rocket cake. Finished Little Einstein Rocket at 3am before starting on Lightning McQueen.

Time was ticking… I had just enough time to do a fab job with Lightning McQueen before the cakes have to be delivered in the morning.

I am very pleased with how the cakes turned out.  I am very pleased with how the cakes turned out. It was literally put down the tools, grabbed my camera to take photos and then out to deliver the cakes so the birthday boys and girl can have a great party. The joy on the children’s face when they first see their birthday cakes…. PRICELESS!!

Greetings from England!

Mama Min is currently in London, England to attend cake decorating workshops conducted by world-renowned sugar artists!  If you are interested in getting a cake for your occasion the cake is required after 10 June, do drop me an email and I will get back to you.

Chinese calligraphy

Ken wanted a special cake for his dad’s 74th birthday. I made a calligraphy design cake for Ken’s dad as he enjoys calligraphy.

I may be of Chinese descent but I’m definitely not Chinese literate even though I can read simple Chinese words and I speak a couple of Chinese dialects. Never held a Chinese brush to write anything before. My daughter is just learning calligraphy in school. She wanted to help write “longevity” and “happy birthday” in Mandarin on the cake. I had to tell her she’ll need to practice some more before she can do so. I know, I can be so nasty sometimes. So I wrote the wordings myself.

Made a mistake, which Laura spotted before delivery to Ken. Phew!

Mini Coopers

Had a chance to make Mini Cooper cake again.  This time, the request was for a sexy bombshell in hot pants to go with the cake.

Then, specially for Visitors Day at the BNI Ampang Chapter last Friday, I made a vintage Mini Cooper as a reminder to get our father and the father of our children something special for Father’s Day.

The vintage Mini Cooper has so much character. My kids know it as the Mr Bean car though.

Undersea Corals

Ultraman

I remember watching Ultraman with my brothers when I was a kid. It’s amazing how Ultraman is still popular now after so long. Little Nizzar adores Ultraman Tiga. When he saw the cake today, he was so fascinated!

Guinness Pint Too

It was good to make the Guinness Pint cake again and got the chance to work on the curves on this blonde in a black dress.

Working on a cake like this is bad news on my waistline! I couldn’t stop picking on the bits I carved off to shape the pint glass cake.
